Why is polytetrafluoroethylene the "king of plastics"?

Author:

Poly tetra fluoroethylene,Abbreviated as PTFE,Generally referred to as "non stick coating" or "easy to clean material". This material has the characteristics of acid resistance, alkali resistance, and resistance to various organic solvents, and is almost insoluble in all solvents. At the same time, polytetrafluoroethylene has the characteristic of high temperature resistance and extremely low friction coefficient, making it an ideal coating for easy cleaning of the inner layer of water pipes in addition to lubrication. The classification of material properties includes four categories: metallic materials, inorganic non-metallic materials (such as ceramics, gallium arsenide semiconductors, etc.), organic polymer materials, and advanced composite materials

On October 27, 2017, the list of carcinogen published by the International Agency for Research on Cancer of the World Health Organization (WHO) was preliminarily sorted out for reference, and polytetrafluoroethylene was included in the list of Class 3 carcinogen.

Others : The propagation speed of waves in polytetrafluoroethylene is: 207019667. 8=0.69v Note: The calculation formula for the propagation speed of waves in the medium is Is the dielectric constant and is the magnetic permeability.

Polytetrafluoroethylene is known as the "king of plastics". Roy Planckett, the father of fluororesin, began researching alternatives to Freon at DuPont in the United States in 1936. They collected some tetrafluoroethylene and stored it in steel cylinders for the next experiment. However, when the pressure reducing valve of the cylinder was opened the next day, no gas leaked. They thought it was a leak, but when they weighed the cylinder, they found that the cylinder did not lose weight. They sawed open the steel cylinder and found a large amount of white powder, which is polytetrafluoroethylene.

They found that polytetrafluoroethylene has excellent properties and can be used as an anti fusion sealing gasket for atomic bombs, artillery shells, and other materials. Therefore, the US military kept this technology confidential during World War II. It was not until the end of World War II that it was declassified and industrial production of polytetrafluoroethylene was achieved in 1946.
